A severe weather warning remains in place for the southern part of WA.
A strong cold front will bring damaging winds with gusts of around 100km/h to coastal areas including Mandurah, Rockingham and Perth.
Destructive wind gusts of 125km/h are also possible between Bunbury and Augusta.
Garden Island recorded a wind gust of 76km/h at 6am while Mandurah had a gust of 69km/h also at 6am.
The Bureau of Meteorology expects the worst of the weather to hit later today and into tonight.
A separate coastal hazard warning has also been issued.
People are being urged not to go boating, swimming or surfing and stay away from rivers, cliffs and sand dunes.
Conditions are expected to ease on Thursday.
