Firefighters have spent the night battling a ferocious bushfire on Yunderup Island in South Yunderup.
The blaze began just before 7.30pm on Tuesday and at one point there was a possible threat to lives and homes in the area.
It is now contained and under control with fire crews expected to remain at the scene today.
A bushfire advice remains in place for people on the Murray Delta Islands including Yunderup, Little Yunderup, Worallgarook, Ballee, Meeyip, Jeegarnyeejip and Cooleenup Islands.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
