Western Australian adventure seekers are being encouraged to visit Rockingham this spring, with the Rediscover Adventure, Rediscover Rockingham marketing campaign officially launched on September 1.
Throughout spring the City of Rockingham and Tourism Rockingham will promote a range of active outdoor experiences and adventure activities that are available within the Rockingham region.
The campaign is spearheaded by the Rediscover Rockingham Adventure Holidays competition, with a prize pool worth more than $3,500 available.
Prizes include accommodation and meals, as well as opportunities for skydiving, wakeboarding, sea kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, kite surfing and an aquatic wildlife cruise.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said Rockingham tourism and hospitality businesses were keen to welcome adventure seekers from across WA who are looking to find out why Rockingham is known as the place where the coast comes to life.
“It was identified within the City’s Tourist Destination Strategy that the Rockingham region was an attractive destination for eco and adventure tourists. With the international and state borders currently closed due to COVID-19, attracting tourists from across our state is one way we can help to support local business,” Mayor Sammels said.
“Promoting Rockingham as an adventure destination with unique outdoor activities is an important step in the development of the Rockingham region as a tourism destination. Fortunately, we don’t have to work too hard to show people that bucket-list adventure, nature and aquatic wildlife experiences can be enjoyed within a short drive from Perth.”
Rediscover Adventure will be featured via a targeted digital campaign, radio advertisements and on social media through Destination Perth’s #SEEPERTH Facebook advertising campaign.
“Through our Strategic Community Plan residents have made it clear that they want the City to actively pursue tourism and economic development. We hope locals get behind this campaign too by reminding their family and friends there’s no better place to rediscover adventure than Rockingham.”
