A new rainfall record has been set in Mandurah after the south of the state copped a drenching over the weekend.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, 44.2mm fell on the Peel city, majority of that on Saturday, setting a new August rainfall record.
Bureau Meteorologist Jessica Lingard said the last August record for Mandurah was set back in 2017.
"That is a new August record for the (weather) station...the station has been around for 24 years now, we smashed the old record by about 6mm," she said.
Rockingham recorded over 37mm of rain across the weekend, and Busselton was hammered with more than 96mm falling on the South West town.
