Police are hunting a group of people over a gruesome attack in Greenfields.
The West reports, the man aged in his 40s was in the Amazon Drive area around 8.30pm on Monday when he was approached by the group who then allegedly cut off his fingers with a machete.
They then stole his mobile phone.
Police say the victim received a "serious hand injury" and was taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital.
Detectives urge anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the vicinity of Pinjarra Road and Mandurah Road between 8pm and 8.45pm, or who may have witnessed the incident, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
