A man has been charged with attempted murder in the State's north.
A 33-year-old man has been charged with Attempt to Unlawfully Kill by Karratha Detectives.
The charges come after an incident that occurred in Bulgarra yesterday morning.
It is alleged that around 5:40am, the man and a 40-year-old victim became involved in a verbal altercation which turned physical at a home in Melak Street.
The men are known to each other.
It will be further alleged that the man was armed with a meat cleaver and struck the victim, which caused a deep laceration to his arm which went down to the bone, severing tendons, nerves and muscle, resulting in the loss of movement to several fingers.
The victim managed to flee the house and seek assistance.
He was treated at Karratha Health Campus and was then flown to Perth by the Royal Flying Doctor Service for surgery.
The 33-year-old man from Bulgarra is due to appear before the Karratha Magistrates Court today.
