Halls Head has been named Western Australia's most persistent storm damage hotspot.
The findings, released by AAMI, revealed more than 39,000 WA home insurance claims were lodged between the 2022 and 2026 financial years, including damage resulting from wind, rain, hail and floods.
In four of those years, Halls Head recorded the highest number of home natural hazards claims.
Waikiki topped the list in 2024 after a major storm in May brought destructive winds, heavy rain and hail.
Ocean Reef, Atwell, Rockingham and Kardinya also featured among the leading severe storm hotspots across multiple years.
AAMI Executive General Manager Home Insurance Anna Cartwright said the analysis showed some communities continue to bear the brunt of severe storms time and again.
“Some locations appear in our claims data repeatedly, while others can go from barely featuring one year to becoming a major hotspot the next," Ms Cartwright said.
“The lesson isn't to focus on which suburb topped the list last year. It's that every Western Australian household should prepare for severe storms before it arrives.”
AAMI encourages households to prepare their properties including inspecting tiles, eaves and fittings, trim trees and branches that could fall onto your home or car and clean gutters, downpipes and drains of debris.
