Fuel prices have surged to near record highs in Perth and Mandurah.

Today, Wednesday March 11, the average cost of unleaded is 2.22¢ a litre, with some BP's hiking their unleaded to nearly 2.46¢.

Diesel prices are also through the roof, nearly 2.60¢ at some local Shell outlets.

Liberty East Rockingham and Liberty Pinjarra have the cheapest unleaded in the local area at 195.5¢.

The cheapest diesel can be found at 53 Mile Roadhouse in Pinjarra at 212.9¢ or further north at BP East Rockingham for 226.9¢.

For those with a Costco membership, you can get unleaded petrol for 184.7¢ and diesel for 218.7¢.

The price hikes come amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

Premier Roger Cook  will host a "fuel security roundtable" on Wednesday to gain insights from fuel industry representatives and key sectors on the potential impacts of the conflict.

"I am receiving regular briefings on the conflict in the Middle East, and my government is actively monitoring and preparing for any potential impacts here," Mr Cook said.

"The latest advice indicates that there are no direct impacts to fuel supply in Australia, but we are seeing increased demand as a result of panic buying.

"This is leading to temporary disruptions to supply at some retailers, and I understand this is creating anxiety for some Western Australian families and businesses."
