Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced a new raft of measures to combat the spread of COVID-19.
Yesterday the Prime Minister asked all Australians to stay home, apart from essential travel. He said that going to the shops and work were allowed. Going to school was also deemed essential while schools are still open.
As of midday today the following businesses are to be closed:
- pubs
- clubs
- cinemas
- casinos
- nightclubs
- indoor places of worship
- gyms
- indoor sporting venues
Restaurants and cafes can open, but only for takeaway food and deliveries. Hotels will remain open for accommodation purposes.
The following businesses are to remain open:
- supermarkets
- banks
- petrol stations
- pharmacies
- convenience stores
- freight and logistics
- food delivery
- bottle shops
- hairdressers and beauticians
