Calling all green thumbs for Serpentine Jarrahdale’s Garden Competition

The countdown is on to find Serpentine Jarrahdale’s best home gardens with just over six weeks left for residents to nominate in the Shire’s inaugural SJ Garden Competition.

The aim of the competition is to recognise the beautiful gardens within the Shire and encourage others to head outdoors and spruce up their own spaces.

Residents can enter in one of the following four categories:
Native gardens;
Waterwise garden;
Traditional garden; and
Rural gardens for properties over 2000sqms.

Shire President Michelle Rich said she hoped the competition encouraged the beautification of home gardens and recognise the best on show.
“I know we have some beautiful gardens within our Shire and I can’t wait to see the entries come through,” Cr Rich said.

“With the waterwise and native garden categories the Shire wants to support and encourage our residents to achieve excellence and innovation in their gardening practices.”

“Getting outdoors in the garden isn’t just enjoyable but is also a great way to stay fit so I encourage all our residents to get involved whether you have a small block or a rural property.”

The winner of each category will receive a $200 garden voucher sponsored by local gardening businesses, Australian Native Nursery, Forestvale Trees and Mundijong Garden Supplies and Hire.
